Here's a nice website.http://www.verticalveg.org.uk.
Some simple ideas for those with limited space.
It's a great idea Alan,I remember a writer John Yeoman writing about using old milk jugs with the top cut off and tied or wired to a post, to grow salad plants and strawberries etc.
Anything is possible with a little imagination isn't it? I am fortunate that I have a reasonable sized garden, but plants like marrows and courgettes I grow on the patio in buckets ( very successfully too),and I grow an outdoor tomato ( Marmande) in bottomless 12" pots set into a narrow border against a sunny fence. They come in nicely after the greenhouse tomatoes.I found the advice on that website good as regards growing chillies too.Improved my crops.
If you take a Standard pallet . back it with Mypex membrane and then fill it you have a very nice stackable ( could go Three high ) Vertical wall that takes up maybe only 6" of floor space width. Useful for courtyard gardens.
